car was broken into and my stereo was stolen four times, I think. Let's see, I was mugged once by a guy with a giant knife, once I was mugged on the street. Twice when I was a bank teller people pulled guns on me. One time I was walking down the street and somebody put a gun at my head and pulled the trigger but there was no round in the chamber. He thought that was pretty funny. So that was my experience. It wasn't unusual to come walking home and see somebody being beaten to death on the sidewalk. It was sort of a normal experience where I lived. So I'm not so sure that San Francisco is worse than the 80s, but it's definitely worsening.
